Berit Engen WOOF and D'RASH - Weaving a Thousand Jewish Tapestries

SHOAH I
– The shive-bird’s list

According to the Tradition, birds carry our prayers to God. I think of these  songs of the Shoah (especially the ones by or about children) as prayers of remembrance for the shive-foygl, the bird of mourning, to bring on her flight.

SHOAH II
– The unbearable weight of the last butterfly

The titles are phrases from poetry and songs expressing how the Jewish view of God, history, hope, and purpose got challenged.

SHOAH III
 – The unthinkable – and in spite of it

Survivors and the generation that followed the Shoah quietly kept the remnants together; the following generations picked them up and have felt able to renew, create, and state their presence.
