Berit Engen WOOF and D'RASH - Weaving a Thousand Jewish Tapestries

BOOK OF PSALMS I
– In front of mountains, inside gorges

Traveling Jews traditionally brought this book along on their trips and journeys. I think of it as a companion we can use as we travel through our lives.

BOOK OF PSALMS II
– In the midst of meadows, beyond fields

As I was weaving from the Psalms, it became clear to me how my own experience of landscapes and light play such a role in how I hear the words of the Psalmist.

BOOK OF PSALMS III
– Behind darkness, into light

There is something above me – or something in the distance – that I am striving to reach because it pulls on me...

BOOK OF PSALMS IV
– Inside shadows, below dust

“V’atziah sheol hinecha.” I found this psalm verse in a Jewish book for mourners. Moved by the words of the translation, I wove four interpretations.
